Something was missing at the Met Gala 2021...

Since the 2020 Met gala was totally cancelled and the 2021 event postponed from May, we didn’t realise how thirsty we were for such glamour, until it hit our feeds. If you haven’t feasted your eyes on the DELIGHT that was the Met Gala 2021 fashion, do yourself a favour!  Vogue has a delightful wrap-up of all the looks here.

We couldn’t help but notice a distinct lack ofsomething to complete almost every outfit. Where were the bags? The clutches? How could Rhianna touch up without somewhere to keep her Fenty? The lack of accessories was LOUD. So we fixed it.

It was fun to reimagine some of these instantly iconic looks with our She Lion pieces. To celebrate, we’re offering  20% off all our items that sparkle and glitter until midnight, Tuesday 21st September (AEST).

Michaela Coel in Balenciaga

AAAAHHHHH is literally the noise we made when we spied this masterpiece of a look.

But there is clearly no room for pockets in that jumpsuit. If there is a more perfect look to pair with our  Sequinned Risk Taker Tote, we’re yet to see it. Heck, even the  Electric Blue version would have been a sublime addition.

Kim Kardashian in Balenciaga

Kim K or Lady Gaga?

Kim confused a lot of folks rocking up in an entirely matte black number, with a mile-long ponytail. You have to be an eagle-eye to spot the  matte black Fixer clutched in her hand. She’s ready to fish out her ID to prove she’s actually Kimmy K in an instant, without messing up her look! Flawless.

Lil Nas X in Versace

Excuse us while we require resuscitation from viewing the magnificence that was Lil’ Nas’s 3 different, epic, gold outfits! In our humble opinion, they won the Met Gala and quite possibly 2021 so far.

Peep how perfectly our  High Roller gold card-holder compliments this incredible gold jumpsuit. Perhaps we’ll send them one...

Kristen Stewart in Chanel

Possibly a controversial fave, as it’s a relatively “safe” look. We absolutely j’adore K-Stew’s look. What’s not to love with a soft blush pink in fierce metallic and incredibly structured lines and folds. Plus that poodle do ischef’s kiss.

It’s almost as though our  Connector structured bag in woven leather and blush pink suede detail was made for this outfit.

Channing Tatum in ‘yawn’

There’s no doubt that Mr Tatum looks amazing in a tailored suit. There aren’t many men who don’t. We surely can’t be the only ones a little let down by the straight men’s lack of pizzaz to their outfits this year? It’s not the Oscars… it the MET GALA.

Just adding our  studded and sexy Innovator cross-body bag turns this outfit from blah to YAH!

We hope you’ve enjoyed this little piece of silliness and cheeky “wondering what it would be like” to see our pieces glitter up the Met Gala stage. Maybe we’ll have our own parades from our lounge-rooms and share those instead. With less terrible photoshop!

We set ourselves the mission to be doggedly authentic and human in our She Lion messaging as the pandemic hit. So at the risk of oversharing, I wanted to share a few small, yet completely achievable things that you might find useful to get you from A to B in your day...

Actually, We Can!

COVID19 dramatically changed the need our product serves, it turns out people don’t need fancy bags to carry their laptop around the house!

I knew that the business needed to transform to survive. Armed with the mantra, “Actually, I can” (and little knowledge about whether we actually could) we pivoted to create an entirely new product category, intending to inspire and stimulate customers to buy local.
